Then I'll have a song in my head and start writing immediately she says. When I sit at my front porch, playing guitar, the lyrics just flow and are usually written in fewer than thirty minutes. While she develops as a lyricist Niykee notes that the pain of her experiences in the past is a constant source of inspiration. "Even in the absence of writing about my own life in the open it is the loss of my sister as well as my difficult childhood are incorporated into my music," she says. The pain of losing my sister and my childhood shapes the songs that I compose. It's crucial for me to have a deep significance to all I perform.
