Firefly was Whedon's upcoming success and it's safe to say that she had an impact. The Summer Glau River Tam character was complex and Glau dealt with it well. In the role of Tam her character, she was enticed into government-sponsored experiments in which she was being trained to be the ultimate assassin. Tam lost her ability to control her emotions as a result. Glau got the chance to show off not only her acting talents, but her fighting skills on Firefly.
